Grant, O Lord, that the course of this world may be peaceably governed by your providence; and that your Church may joyfully serve you in confidence and serenity; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Paul writes to the Galatians with the tone of a wounded father—grieved, perplexed, and desperate to reclaim the hearts of his spiritual children. The section from Galatians 4:8–20 is not a cold theological argument but a passionate appeal, nestled in the middle of a letter that alternates between strong rebuke and tender love.
