Scripture

Psalter: Psalm 29

Old Testament: Job 39:13-25

Epistle: 1 Corinthians 12:4-13

___

Prayer

Almighty God, you have built your Church upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone: Grant us so to be joined together in unity of spirit by their teaching, that we may be made a holy temple acceptable to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God,

___

Reflection

Now there are varieties of gifts but the same Spirit, and there are varieties of services but the same Lord, and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another the working of powerful deeds, to another prophecy, to another the discernment of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. All these are activated by one and the same Spirit, who allots to each one individually just as the Spirit chooses.

For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and we were all made to drink of one Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:4-13).

In sacred halls where reverence dwells,

There lies a truth that sweetly compels,

A body formed, united as one,

The church, an echo of the Holy Son.

May it be so.

Within its walls, a symphony resounds,

Hearts entwined, in love's embrace they’re bound,

Each member a vessel, divinely graced,

A tapestry woven, interlaced.

May it be so.

Like limbs and organs, diverse and whole,

The body of Christ, a harmonious role,

From every nation, tribe, and tongue,

A chorus of faith, forever sung.

May it be so.

The hands, compassionate and ever giving,

Reach out to the broken, in love forgiving,

The feet, swift to carry hope’s embrace,

Treading paths of grace, with steadfast pace.

May it be so.

The eyes, filled with mercy, perceive the pain,

Gazing beyond appearances, breaking every chain,

The mouth, proclaiming truth, with gentle voice,

Sharing the Gospel, the ultimate choice.

May it be so.

The heart, the core, where love resides,

A sanctuary where compassion abides,

Beating with passion, a relentless fire,

Burning with love, igniting desire.

May it be so.

Yet in this body, imperfections remain,

Frailties and failures, the shadows of our strain,

But grace abounds, healing every flaw,

Transforming weakness into strength, we stand in awe.

May it be so.

For the church is more than walls and creed,

It’s a living body, divinely decreed,

In unity we stand, no matter the cost,

Bonded by love, in the Savior's embrace, we're lost.

May it be so.

So let us honor, with humble delight,

The church, radiant in heaven’s pure light,

For as the body of Christ, we are blessed,

To serve and worship, eternally caressed.

May it be so.

PRAYER: Almighty God, the fountain of all wisdom, you know our necessities before we ask and our ignorance in asking: Have compassion on our weakness, and mercifully give us those things which for our unworthiness we dare not, and for our blindness we cannot ask; through the worthiness of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
