Every holiday season, the theological geeks among us engage in this by now tired out tradition of dissing the song "Mary Did You Know?" "Of course, Mary knew," many state with conviction. "Have you read "The Magnificat?" (Luke 1:46–55).
Well, the answer as we drill down into the lyrics is not so obvious. So, I intend to put this controversy to rest, once and for all (yeah, right). I post the lyrics below with my answers in parentheses.
