I usually chose a spot where I could see the front speakers. Being short I had trouble seeing over people and hated staring at the back of someones head or shoulders! While reading your devotional, it occurred to me that territory is marked in other ways in churches as well. It is done by pastors who either verbally or nonverbally state what is allowed there. Whether it is a dress code, method of worship, style of service, woman in leadership positions, personal testimony, Biblical interpretation and application, etc. I don't mean that pastors control territorial gestures, but that it happens in ways we may not notice or think about. The longer someone goes to a certain church the tendency is to become more territorial.... I have never heard someone say or do something territorial if they have been going to a church a short amount of time...... Just my thoughts....
